Remy received a hand-me down red car from his cousins. They gave it to him after he rode around in it at their house and then had a meltdown when we took him out of it. Their kids have pretty much outgrown it so they offered it to us and we were thrilled!
Not as thrilled as Remy though. If he is in the backyard he is usually pushing it around, sitting in it or trying to climb in it. He has not quite mastered how to climb in it (much like he still does not climb on furniture) so he just fusses until someone helps him out.
Yesterday I took him outside for an hour to play, and true to form, he spent most of his time playing with the car.
Ready to go
O no, I lost my nook!
Where is that darn thing
Got it!! Now we can go for a little drive!
You comin' Mama?
I pushed him around the yard and on our gravel driveway but after a little while I decided I needed a break.
Remy did not agree.
After a while he calmed down and played with some grass...
Ate some grass....
Did a little mechanical work on the car...
Tested it out to make sure it was running smoothly...
And finally I acquiesced and took him for another ride.
This time we went out on the sidewalk because it is much smoother and I hate pushing him on the bumpy ground. Remy was seriously happy. We live on one of the busiest streets in our town and so he would turn the steering wheel constantly while looking at the cars going by with a smug look on his face, I think he honestly thought he was driving just like they were. We did this for quite some time because any time I tried to even push him up on the grass to go back in our yard he would start screaming bloody murder. Evidently being pushed around on the grass and gravel is no longer going to cut it. Finally it was time to go inside. We had to go inside (I worked and needed to get some things done before I left) so I braced myself.
This video is about 2 minutes into his tantrum. I started filming before but he got so mad he fell off the seat below the steering wheel so I just tried to take him out but I was pulling his body as hard as I could out of the car and he was clinging to the steering wheel still screaming. So I put him back in and started filming.
After this we went inside where he spent the next hour playing with toys for 30 seconds and then he would crawl over and attempt to climb my leg while screaming his head off. Who knew a baby's memory could be that good?
I finally ended up taking him over to my in-laws early (they watch him in between the time I go to work and Nic gets off of work, usually about 30 minutes) because I couldn't take it any longer. The effectively distracted him but I guess when Nic brought him home a couple of hours later, as soon as he saw the red car in the yard he started screaming and squirming trying to get down so he could play with it.
He is definitely a Larson!!
