Today Remy had his 6 month checkup, although its really more like his 7 month checkup since he will be 7 months in two days. He is 19 pounds, 1 ounce and 26 1/2 inches long. So, despite the fact we all think he is quite a chunk he is in the 50-65th percentile for weight and 50th for height, but 90th for head! Those Asche genes...
The doctor did mention that he was a little concerned about the flat spot on his head and to watch it closely, if it doesn't get better they will probably run some tests. However, his head is definitely still growing so there shouldn't be a problem. I have noticed in the last month a significant improvement since he spends so much time in his excersaucer and sitting up when he is awake. I feel so guilty for letting him spend so much time sitting in his bouncer and that I didn't force him to have tummy time when his head was so much softer, but I can't go back and that is what worked for both of us during that time.
Sunday we went to visit my Grandpa in the hospital, he had brain surgery a week and a half ago because he had acute hematosis (sp?) of the brain. He has since been moved to another hospital to began the recovery and therapy process and seems to be doing wonderful. I had visited him a couple days after his surgery but he had been sleeping and unable to wake up, so this was the first time we were able to talk to him. Here is a picture of Remy and I with Grandpa. Grandpa was holding Remy's hand and Remy was looking at him instead of the camera. We didn't get a better picture because the batteries died but I kind of like this one.
Grandpa seemed so much less agitated than he has been in recent months (I guess that agitation is a side effect of hematosis?). At one point I was holding Remy in standing position on the floor and he was bouncing up and down and trying to reach down and grab his shoe off the floor, everyone else in the room was talking but Grandpa was watching Remy, smiling and making some encouraging noises. Right after the picture we took, Grandpa reached over an rubbed my cheek with his hand and then touched my hair very gently. I don't remember Grandpa ever being really affectionate other than hugs that were usually initiated by me and rarely engage with babies when other conversations were going on so it was very sweet to see/experience.

I'm glad that Grandpa is doing better. I see he doesn't have his cute hat on anymore!
Speaking of hats, I have some very cute pictures of Remy in his hat that I should email to you.
That is such a sweet picture! Glad that everything went well for your Grandpa!
Oh the 90th percentile head! Go figure huh? :)
